At ATA Family Martial Arts (ATAFMA) in Aurora, we love when new people come to our studio to sign up for classes. Usually, it’s a parent who is signing up a child for their first class, and occasionally we have couples who want to take classes together. One situation that we get very excited about is when a family comes in and everyone wants to sign up for a class. Both the parents and the kids are interested in taekwondo, and even though they won’t be training together, they’ll be starting their martial arts journey together.
If your family is interested in taking classes, then contact or stop by our location today. Our staff will be more than happy to answer your questions and help you find the right program for everyone in your family. With options for kids, teens, and adults, everyone can start training as soon as possible!
Quality Time Together
Your family likely leads busy lives, and between work, school, and other activities, you have very little quality time together. You might sit down for dinner once or twice a week, but otherwise, everyone is running around, grabbing their own meals, and rushing out the door.
With martial arts, you can spend quality time together as a family talking about what you did in the last class and what you’re looking forward to in the next one. You can discuss what you learned and how it applies to your life, as well as what challenges each one of you faced, such as learning a new technique or trying something you’ve never done before. For the kids, you can talk about who they may have met in class and what new friends they’ve made so far.
One thing every family loves to do is to celebrate the achievements of those they love. When someone graduates from high school, you’re there to commemorate them. When someone brings home a great report card, you go out for ice cream.
With taekwondo, each one of you will start at the same level, which is the rank of white belt. As you progress through your training, you’ll grow in both strength and stamina, and you’ll have the opportunity to earn higher belt rankings. When one of you earns your yellow belt, you can celebrate together by having dinner at the person’s favorite restaurant. When a member of the family reaches black belt rank, you can take a vacation!
A Lifelong Connection
If you have young children who want to take martial arts, and you and your partner also want to try taekwondo, then you can begin what can turn into a lifelong connection with your family. The kids will eventually grow up and move out of the house, but if they continue their training and you continue yours, then you’ll always be able to talk about what everyone is learning and how everyone is progressing.
If your family is interested in taking martial arts classes in Aurora, then we hope you’ll choose ATAFMA. With our years of experience and dedication, we can provide the perfect environment for every member of your family to learn and grow in the world of taekwondo.
